About Custom Grading System

Custom 100-1000 Point Grading Scale

This application uses a comprehensive custom grading system with a 100-1000 point scale, providing much more granular assessment than traditional 1-10 scales. The system evaluates 19 distinct grade levels from POOR to PRISTINE condition.

The Grading Scale

Grade Name Score Range Description
10 PRISTINE 990-1000 Virtually flawless - perfect corners, centering, surface, and edges
10 GEM MINT 950-989 4 sharp corners with minor artifacts, extremely attractive surface
9 MINT 900-949 Sharp square corners with light touches, minimal surface issues
8.5 NEAR MINT - MINT+ 850-899 Multiple light corner touches, multiple surface defects presenting
8 NEAR MINT - MINT 800-849 Minor corner wear starting, several surface defects present
7.5 NEAR MINT+ 750-799 Corners showing more wear, very minor dent possible
7 NEAR MINT 700-749 Corners square but showing fraying, minor dent may impact both sides
6.5 EXCELLENT - MINT+ 650-699 Corner may lose shape, short wrinkle possible on back
6 EXCELLENT - MINT 600-649 One corner may show slight rounding, longer wrinkle on back
5.5 EXCELLENT+ 550-599 Minor corner rounding, small wrinkle on front possible
5 EXCELLENT 500-549 Rounding of 1-2 corners more significant, multiple small wrinkles
4.5 VERY GOOD - EXCELLENT+ 450-499 Corner clearly rounded, minor crease visible breaking stock
4 VERY GOOD - EXCELLENT 400-449 2-3 corners clearly rounded, minor crease on both sides
3.5 VERY GOOD+ 350-399 All four corners rounded, light wrinkle spanning 3/4 of back
3 VERY GOOD 300-349 Four rounded corners bordering extreme, heavier wrinkles present
2.5 GOOD+ 250-299 Extreme corner rounding, wrinkle spanning length of card
2 GOOD 200-249 All corners extremely rounded, multiple full-length wrinkles
1.5 FAIR 150-199 Corners appearing to fall apart, staple holes present
1 POOR 100-149 Corners misshaped/fallen off, tape or glue on front

Grading Categories

Each card is evaluated across four key categories, each weighted equally at 25%:

1. Corners (25%)

2. Edges (25%)

3. Surface (25%)

4. Centering (25%)

How Grading Works

  1. Image Upload: Both front and back images are uploaded
  2. Computer Vision Analysis: AI algorithms analyze each category
  3. Category Scoring: Each category receives a score from 100-1000
  4. Dual-Side Evaluation: Both sides are analyzed; card receives the lower score per category
  5. Weighted Combination: Category scores are combined using equal 25% weights
  6. Final Grade: Overall score maps to one of 19 grade levels
